This year's India Day Parade turned into a giant block party filled with glamour from the Grand Marshall, Shilpa Shetty and excitement fueled by R&B sensation, Jay Sean. You watched the video, so now we are going to tell you about the things that didn't make it in.

Jay Sean, as always, was a crowd pleaser.  The DH! team was proudly a part of his float and got to the parade early to help set up. When we got to the site we saw that many groups of fans were already there hoping to jump on the float with Jay Sean. They weren't able to get on due to limited space and security so they jumped up on the float right behind us in order to follow Jay Sean through the procession.

As soon as Jay Sean and his camp met up with us, the crowd went crazy and began to swarm him for photos. The phrase, "OMG I just met Jay Sean!" was heard over and over and over. Everyone wanted a picture or autograph! The artist managed to break through the crowd onto the float with the help of security. And this was just the start to all the madness!  As you saw, the float was followed by hundreds of screaming fans, throwing anything up on the float to have Jay Sean sign.  You may have thought that the Sidekick was a weird item to have Jay Sean's autograph on, but even stranger things were handed up to him. From designer handbags to sneakers it seemed like people just wanted his signature on anything they owned. Everyone was also reaching for the t-shirts Jay Sean was throwing from the float provided by Desi Wear and Desi Hits!

"Down" was not pumping out of only our speakers, but out of several others in the parade as well. It seemed like the 60,000 plus people were all constantly jamming to this track. When Jay Sean's float approached the podium where the Grand Marshall, Shilpa Shetty sat, Jay Sean shared a quick speech on how we should never let patriotism turn into arrogance, and while we should all be proud to be Indian, we shouldn't let our heritage create boundaries between us and other races.

When the parade ended Jay Sean continued to speak to his many fans on the mic. He drew such a large number of people around him that the NYPD had to ask him to stop for his own security. The police then escorted him away and fans screamed and chanted for him as he went off.

Even though all of the excitement was not over, the parade was done, and the celebrations continued the rest of the afternoon and through the night. The parade was followed by an after party at the NYC club, Touch where Jay Sean performed for some of his lucky fans. The Desi Hits! crew was there, of course, in the VIP room.
