panjabi mc only had one good song... where is he now? Indian Timing sucked. i think that jay sean is more talented than h dhami but that doesnt mean that h dhami isnt talented at all. Simran S, u saying that he isnt a good singer or dancer is ur opinion, and u r entitled to have that. i live in the LA and was counting days till the USA release of h dhami's album and bought it and its going to be a year soon of his release and to this day i listen to his songs like it just came out. Look, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and liking someone is not "kissing ass"... i mean cmon its not like the artists themselves r gonna read this. I

punjabi4life..i think you will find Panjabi MC has done MORE for the scene WORLDWIDE with ONE song...stop kissing ass..

April 03, 2009 09:33 PST

punjabi4life did u really say this: " rishi has done much more than that and those remixes such as developing extremely talented artists such as Jay Sean and H Dhami." How can u call H Dhami an extremely talented artist? The only talent he has is his looks. I dont think hes a good dancer and he certainly isnt a good singer. I think without Rishi Rich behind him H Dhami would be nowhere. Jay Sean on the other hand IS talented and is doing big things

i recognize the difference between remixing and producing, but even if Rishi just remixed for Britney and Madonna it is a big deal. and he has met britney because there are photos of them together. Britney spears is a legend and when rishi remixed for them, he wasnt. he wasnt even that well known around the world, and to show that off is NOT pathetic. i know that if i was only well known in the indian community and started working, even if that just means remixing with those legends that i would want at least some recognition for it ,and i refuse to believe that anyone else like rishi wouldnt. ur right that justifying one's career by remixing is wrong, but rishi has done much more than that and those remixes such as developing extremely talented artists such as Jay Sean and H Dhami. He is the single reason why there is an 'Urban Desi Scene'. we owe it all to him and can count on him to bring quality music to the table.

SimranS, Rishi Rich produced 7 to 8 tracks and I'm not sure who produced the rest on Jay Sean first album. lol Rishi didnt produce jay second album at all. Jay worked with producers in America and he also worked with Alan Sampson

April 02, 2009 14:27 PST

But wait...didn't Rishi produce Jay's first album? Obviously nowhere near the quality of his new one but im sure he was the producer. Raghavs producer mushtaq is awesome. I think he's been producing for Navin Kundra and 3mix too

April 02, 2009 07:17 PST

punjabi4life, you fail to recognise the difference between producing and remixing. 'producing' is when you work with an artist in person to create an original song and original music and guide their direction, guide their vocals. for example rishi has produced juggy d and veronica. 'remixing' is when you get sent an existing vocal track separately from an existing piece of music that it was recorded to and that was produced by somebody else. you generally will not even meet the artist, and you create some new music to go under the vocals, but have squat to do with guiding the artist or having any creative input on the vocals or melodies, key changes, etc. Production is worthy of recognition. Remixing is nothing to brag about. Anyone who attempts to justify their career by constantly bigging up the fact that they did a remix is nothing short of P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C.

Rishi rich should be recognized for producing for Madonna and Britney because it is a big achievement. Not everyone gets to work with those people and for a indian producer in southall to remix for those kinds of people is a big thing. Jay Sean and Raghav are the pioneers of the Urban Desi scene and everyone else who comes after them will only be successful because Raghav and Jay Sean were successful and are still successful to date. Jay Sean is not only the first one to sign to Cash Money, but to a major american record label at all! We should be proud of them instead of tearing them down. They get enough criticism and breaking into the mainstream is hard but they all are doing a great job of doing it, especially Jay Sean.

Shallni, according to official Sound Scan reports in Asia, Europe and UK (well Gema over there) Raghav sold under 100K. Thats amazing, but certainly not 1.5 Million. The point of my comment below was to say, they all did GREAT things but we don't need to overhype the truth. As for The Cash Money/ Jay Sean debate....only time will tell. Im routing for him regardless of the Hype!

April 01, 2009 17:45 PST

Shannon, its a FACT that raghav sold OVER 1.5 million albums worldwide, it went multi platinum..+ evidently its most likely that the majority of those sales were in India, 6th biggest international selling album?! and it was his debut album @ the age of 23? And the fact that four out of his 5 singles released were in the UK top 10, and the 5th charting at 15...I'd say they're accomplishments...unlike getting signed to cash money records..that's partly luck!

April 01, 2009 16:33 PST

I just cant bieave Rishi Rich launched his own Academy lol, they are charging £1500 for 4 days course which you aint going to learn shit all. Veronica going to teach how to sing and write lyrics lol hahha thats a joke. Whats Juggy D going to teach?? how to live on with one album! The Super producer Rishi Rich lol my foot prob going to jack the students beats and take the credit lol.

April 01, 2009 14:59 PST

BeepityBleep u say it like it is! A lil too harsh maybe, but I agree with a lot of what ur saying about rishi rich and hdhami! And is it jus me or is hdhami losing hair fast? I do like JS & Raghav though! The Academy is such a rip off! £1500??? It's a recession!

April 01, 2009 12:12 PST

Agreed with Sukhy, an artist bigging himself up by claiming he has 'produced' big artists when he has only done remixes for them is pathetic really. that's barely an achievement at all. as for the other two thing mentioned "recognized for blah blah blah" - by who? his industry mates, like the person that wrote this article? "credited as blah blah blah" - again, BY WHO? The way I see it, he was dropped from 2point9 after his abysmal flop of an album 'the project', signed with a small independant bhangra label (moviebox), and is now forcing untalented crap like Hdhami on the world, and trying to charge people £1500 for his ridiculous "academy" idea - that is the very definition of a RIP OFF. as for raghav and jay sean - BORING. their entire fanbase consists of repressed teenage indian girls and i'd be very surprised if cash money records even release jay's album, they have a history of signing and dropping artists without a care in the world. i'll say it again......BORING

April 01, 2009 10:27 PST

I use to like rishi but not anymore - same old same old. it gets boring. im glad jay sean went his own way and is now getting the recognition he deserves and raghav is 1 of the best!

April 01, 2009 08:43 PST

Is this an April Fool's Day joke...? RIshi has only REMIXED these artists for the UK and has NEVER been in a studio and produced them. Stop spreading lies to big people up.

April 01, 2009 07:23 PST

Agreed with Shannon, this article is crap and meaningless. Desi Hits needs to focus on talent and not hype. There are a bunch more artists you should be focusing on rather than all this Rishi Rich crap.

April 01, 2009 03:50 PST

What a load of Bullshit - Raghav didn't sell 1.3 Million albums. He didn't even go Gold in the UK. Rishi didn't produce for ANY of those artists; He REMIXED for them. Jay Sean "The first" Desi Artist signed to Cash Money? What does that even mean? As if Cash Money would sign more then one? The entire set up makes no sense. How bout just telling the Truth. That Jay got a massive deal with a massive label. Well done!! In order to be taken seriously the scene needs to stop the Hype and focus on facts. All three of those artists above don't need ANY over hyping of their achievements. They have all accomplished great things and continue to do so. But by NOT sticking to the facts you cloud the truth for people within the scene, and create a sense of disbelief for those OUTSIDE of the scene. How about just saying that Raghav sells out Venues from here to South Africa, Jay Sean is the #1 urban export out of England, regardless of race, and with out Rishi there would be NO Jay Sean, Juggy and 2point9 in general. There..now thats the truth AND it even sounds good too!
