After the commercial success of her hit single 'Paper Planes' (featured in the movie, 'Pineapple Express' earlier this year), M.I.A. has become recognized globally. Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasm, better known as M.I.A, is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and visual artist of Sri Lankan Tamil descent.
Jay-Z definitely has a knack for churning out hit tracks with international artists. He previously got together with Bhangra artist Panjabi MC and produced the colossal hit 'Mundiyan Tu Bach Ke'. Jay-Z's collaboration with M.I.A. on 'Boys' has definitely put him back on the Desi music scene.
A huge amount of classic bollywood and garba influence can be heard in the song as well as the reoccuring themes heard in most of M.I.A.'s music: politics and global ideas. An inside source told us that M.I.A went to India with her producer Switch to absorb the culture and music. She also recorded most of the track there.

the track is fire! whats great about MIA and Jay-Z is they throw in relevant ish in their verses. I'm glad they had some things to say about the current state of affairs, particularly US government. hot beat + political commentary = SICK. props for the exclusive!

I like the lyrics a lot, and it's cool that Jay-Z's collaborating with MIA now that she's 'big'. But I wish they did an original track together, that would be so much hotter then a remix of an old track like Boys.
