Swami should win this award. If they don't win it doesn't make any sense and is probably a fix. Jaysean hasn't even done anything in 2007 apart from his one song. (which is far from his best, truth be told)
nice one gagan! thats major to have a fugee on your album! big up to swami. they definately deserve to win this like russegb said, although i think he underestimates swami's fanbase which is easily as big as jay sean's....but in different genre's and styles (i.e swami have more support from the alternative and rock genres than jay sean obviously, and jay has more of the bubblegum teeniepop crowd) so it probably balances out. swami DEFINITELY deserve credit where credit is due for making an amazing album. jay sean is good at his pop stuff but swami are the real deal!

The thing I love about what Desi Hits is doing is just how truly global this competition is. Where else would you have a contest where people love one of the top 3 artists but haven't even heard of the others. If nothing else, hopefully people will have a chance to discover these other artists. As far as who should win, I agree that Swami is probably most deserving as they have put out an album with universal appeal that merges musical infuences as varied as the group itself. These types of "user voted" contests are usually more about popularity and I suspect that Jay Sean will win based on the fact that he has been around for a long time and has a lot of very loyal fans. Plus, his "ride it" single is starting to blow up all over. I'm glad Atif made it into the top 3, but I don't think he is that well known outside of Pakistan/India. Maybe this contest will help change that. So who's everyone's pick for 2008?
