Freida Pinto was born on October 18, 1984 in Mumbai, India. She has an older sister, Sharon Pinto, who is an associate producer on the NDTV news channel. Freida Pinto is widely recognized for her role as the beautiful love interest, Latika, in the critically acclaimed film "Slumdog Millionaire," but this actress is much more than just…

It may seem as though Freida Pinto came out of nowhere with her 2008 role in the box office sensation "Slumdog Millionaire" but the actress's rise to fame was a slow a tedious one. Freida Pinto began her career as a model for Elite Model Management India. Her tenure with the company lasted from 2005 until 2008.

While working as a model, she was involved in several ad campaigns, both in print and commercials. Some of the companies she modeled for were India Today, Wrigley's Chewing Gum, De Beers, Uni Star Mobile, and Antara Spa. She also graced the cover of the magazines Femina and Femina Girl and FNL. Freida Pinto also anchored the TV show 'Full Circle.' The show was an international travel show featured in English and aired on Zee International Asia Pacific. The show explored the traditions and cultures of various countries, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.

Freida Pinto was auditioning for six months before she got the big break she had been waiting for. She auditioned for "Slumdog Millionaire" and after being short-listed, director Danny Boyle finally chose her to star as Latika in the film. Since the film came out and was instantly embrace by both audiences and critics, Freida Pinto's career has been on a whirlwind.

She won, along with other cast members of "Slumdog Millionaire," the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. She was also nominated for 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' at the 2009 Bafta Awards but unfortunately lost to Penelope Cruz.

Audiences, critics, and Hollywood have all fallen in love with 24 year old beauty so we should all to expect to see a lot more of her.
