The Pussycat Dolls started from humble beginnings by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995. The group performed in lingerie and costumes alongside various singers. Soon they had an act on Thursdays at the Viper Room in Los Angeles. The group would later gain more recognition, appearing on MTV and VH1 ad campaigns as well as getting cameos in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and a music video for artist Pink.
The Pussycat Dolls as we see them today were created by Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair who decided to capitalize on their success and recast the group, adding main vocalists Nicole Scherzinger and soprano Melody Thornton as well as Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyat.
Pussycat Dolls would focus on Pop/R&B songs and their music would be featured on the soundtracks for the films "Shall We Dance" and "Shark Tale." A year later, The Pussycat Dolls would release their debut album, "PCD" which jumped to number five on the billboard charts. Their latest album, "Doll Domination" won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Dancing in a Video, for their first single "When I Grow Up." Pussycat Dolls would also release the singles "Watcha Think About That" along with "I Hate This Part."
Their fourth single has been taking the airwaves by storm, a remix of the Oscar award winning track "Jai Ho" by A.R. Rahman. "Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)" has gotten the Pussycat Dolls to number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and have placed even higher around the world. The song was almost never made, in an interview with Desi Hits! lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger felt the track was too perfect to me remade. Embracing "Slumdog Millionaire" fever, Desi Hits! Also dressed up the Pussycat Dolls in Sari's for "Fashion Rocks." For their latest video, "Jai Ho (Your Are My Destiny)," the girls play on the dance sequence from the ending from "Slumdog Millionaire." Currently, the Pussycat Dolls are touring with another Desi Hits! favorite, Britney Spears.
