Bengali beauty Rani Mukherjee (often spelled Mukherji) stepped onto the Bollywood scene in 1996 and stole everyone's hearts in the 1998 hit movie "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" But Rani didn't end up in Bollywood by chance; she comes from a successful family who has been in the industry for a while.
At the age of 20, Rani starred in Karan Johar's "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" with her cousin Kajol, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress and a big fan base.
In the following years, Rani Mukherjee starred in a number of films which all ended up being mediocre. But she learned from the experience and began to take on more mature and sensitive roles. The movie "Chori Chori Chupke Chupke" tells the story of a couple (Rani and Salman Khan) who can't have any children of their own so they decide to hire a surrogate mother (Priety Zinta). In "Saathiya," Rani plays a character that leaves her family to marry the love of her life only to find out that marriage isn't always all that great.
From controversial to serious roles, Rani began attracting the attention of the critics once again. Her roles in "Yuv" and "Black"were both powerful and Rani will be remembered for her mature interpretation of the characters. In fact she received Filmfare Awards for both roles. In more recent years, Rani has been seen in "Hum Tum," "Bunty Aur Babli," and "Ta Ra Rum Pum."
Away from her career, Rani Mukherjee stays quite private about her personal life. She has made it to the tabloids time and time again with rumored romances and quarrels with peers, but the rumors remain rumors as Rani rarely comments on them. Rani is seen time and time again with her friends Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan at events and on their television shows. Despite what the crowds may say about Rani's ideals and personal matters, she continues to conquer the box offices and look hotter every time we see her. Rani's new movie "Dil Bole Hadippa" is set to release on October 18.
