Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques was born on January 9, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. His parents and grandparents were athletes. His father and grandfather were on the Jamaican men's national water polo team. Like them, he followed suit and was on that team from the age of 13 to 21, when he decided to pursue his music career full-time. Inspired by reggae legend Super Cat, Sean Paul became a deejay and started recording music in 1996. His first ever appearance came in the 1998 movie "Belly."

Sean Paul to date has released three albums. His second album, "Dutty Rock," has sold over six million albums worldwide and spawned four US top 20 and UK top 10 singles including the US #1 hits, "Get Busy" and "Baby Boy," a song he did with Beyonce. In 2004, "Dutty Rock" won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

His third album, "The Trinity" produced 3 US top 10 singles, most notably "Temperature" which climbed to #1 on the US Hot 100 Billboard Charts. His fourth album, "Imperial Blaze," is set for an August 2009 release. Sean Paul has also collaborated with numerous artists such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, DMX, Busta Rhymes, and Missy Elliott and has been included on countless remixes and song blends.

Sean Paul is perhaps one of the most recognizable and successful reggae and dancehall artists in the world. He is known for helping popularize the Diwali Riddim worldwide. With songs like "Get Busy," and "Like Glue," Sean Paul's penchant for singing over the Bollywood influenced beats has become a fixture in his music and spawned numerous popular songs from other artists. With a strong following in Jamaica, the US, Canada, and the UK, Sean Paul hopes to continue reaching out to other countries and continue to be one of the main artists in the reggae genre.
