Director Neeraj Vora is brings us quite the humorous film. Sources say, Short Kut stars Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Chunkey Pandey. While the music for 'Short Kut' has been provided by Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa. The lyrics are from Javed Akhtar.

The premise of the story follows aspiring assistant director, Shekhar ( played by Akshaye Khanna) who is struggling to make it big in the film industry. Like Shekhar, junior artist, Raju ( played by Arshad Warsi) is struggling to just get by. While Shekhar is an extremely capable and confident person, Raju is nothing short of a lazy joker, who does not work for what he wants and considers himself the next major super star. Trouble starts when the two meet for the first time and commence a friendly acquaintance.

Raju deceives his friend Shekhar when he manages to steal his prized script. Soon after, Raju finds himself down the path of stardom because of the recognition and praise he gets from Shekhar's script.

Shekhar's life soon descends into a downward spiral. He is hurt and miserable because his friend stole his script and soon after his wife and leading actress Mansi (played by Amrita Rao) begins to film a movie with Raju. The two meet again when Shekhar is set to direct his first movie with superstar Raju in the leading role. As the film progresses, a hilarious tale of con, trickery, fame and descent unravel on the screen.
