Akshay Kumar And A-List Actors Breaking Hip Hop to Bollywood

From the Bronx, New York to Compton, California, all the way down to Atlanta, Georgia Hip-Hop's influence can't be stopped. And Bollywood just couldn't resist its charm. A-list  Bollywood actors like Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan embraced not only the art form but the lifestyle in the videos your about to see.

Even the musicians crossed over and started testing out their skills on the mic. Canadian born IshQ Bector writes and performs Hip-Hop and started a following in India off his video 'Hip-Hopper.' He's shared stages with other rappers like Mobb Deep and Chamillionaire and even appeared in the Bollywood film 'Barsaat'.

This Hip-Hop influence seems to be a growing trend within the Bollywood and Indian entertainment world. We've prepared a timeline for you to see the road Hip Hop paved on its way to world domination, stopping finally at Bollywood.

According to the New York Times, "While a few Western acts like Madonna and Coldplay also sell well in India, Hip-Hop has traditionally had limited appeal," but apparently the beliefs of people like Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan differ.

In Abhishek Bachchans video for 'Right Here Right Now' Abhishek calls Vishal and Shekar the Hip-Hop fakes. Are they poking fun at the genre that the U.S. loves so dearly?

On the other hand Akshay Kumar really tries to put together some credible songs. For 'Singh is Kinng' he recruited American West Coast rap icon Snoop Dogg. He also rapped on the title track for 'Chandni Chowk to China' and this time brought around his friend Bohemia.  Is Hip-Hop starting to go to Akshay Kumars head?

So guys, what do you think of Hip Hops influence in Bollywood? Is the genre genuinely crossing over? Watch the videos and give us your opinion.

You missed out a pivotal rap in your Hip Hop timeline - PETTAI RAP from KADHALAN in 1994 by AR Rahman - this was so innoative in it's time and still remains so. In fact, AR Rahman used rap in his background music for Mani Ratnam's Thiruda Thiruda and that was back in 1993... But PETTAI RAP was a massive hit! Here are details of the B Town version of the song - the film had the hit Mukkala muqaabla laila: Humse Hai Muqabala/Kadhalan Director :Shankar Music Director :A.R.Rehman Leading Cast : Prabhu Deva, Nagma, Girish Karnad Pettai Rap - Shankar Mahadevan of Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Suresh Peters

what akshay did with snoop was awful - snoop didn't take it seriously and thats the problem - bollywood is a joke to them. its a joke to us too so how can we blame them??? bollywood needs to get with the program and make better fusion as they have a great opportunity to do something really cool with the right people involved. I think right here right now was the best track with a hiphop flava but it should have had a real rapper in it (from the US) that would have been amazing.

the interesting thing about hip hop is that different cultures have taken the essence of it and created their own version - this is what bollywood has done. But it would be good to see more western talent in India where hiphop is involved so that it can be more authentic. Love what Rohan sippy did with bluffmaster - this was the start of Abhishek being "cool"!!!

I'm going to just ignore you hehe, you either obviously don't know what your talking about or are trying to start a flame, w/e, stop it it's childish. Anyways, i don't know, hip hop in India is diff than hip hop in america, i kinda like it but kinda don't. I'm not sure if Hip hop in India will ever be appreciated by America, bec. in hip hop you have to have a hardcore image and India is no where ever going to be near hardcore I'm mean come on our accent? lol let's be serious. And Ahbishek was not insulting hip hop that's stupid, he was obviously poking fun at themselves bec. they were making a hip hop track when they prob. feel it's not serious and they aren't hip hop, bluffmaster track was just something fun to do for them.
