Album Review: 'All Or Nothing' by Jay Sean

Jay Sean's passion and talent for music have led to his successful international career! Jay started his career with Rishi Rich as part of the Rish Rich project signed by 2Point9/ Doh Point Nah Records. While with 2Point9, this Urban Desi artist made it to Bollywood and back. At the same time, Jay Sean worked on his debut album "Me Against Myself." The album went on to become a success and Jay headed back to the studios. Next came the release of "My Own Way," which was released on Jay Sean's own record label. This album peaked at the number six spot in the U.K.! Ready to make his debut on the American music scene, Jay Sean dropped the single "Down" that has already hit the number 1 spot on the billboard charts. So does his new album "All Or Nothing" match up?

What We Think
For those of you who are Jay Sean fans and know his last album, you will notice a few familiar tracks on "All Or Nothing." The album opens up with the smash single "Down" featuring Lil Wayne. This catchy tune has become a favorite. Next on the album is "Fire." The chorus is quite similar to "Down" and has quite a repetitive nature. Up next comes Jay Sean's second single "Do You Remember" featuring Lil Jon and Sean Paul. This upbeat and fun song adds a lighthearted vibe to the album, not to mention a one-of-a-kind artist lineup!

"Love Like This (Eternity)" is a sweet song about love, but the heavy beat gives it something special and made us pause as it was not expected. The smooth, sexy, and sensual side of Jay Sean is portrayed on "Do You."  This song is quite similar to those we have heard on past Jay Sean album's, proving that the artist is staying true to his identity. With powerful lyrics and a beautiful piano melody, "War" stands out on the album. Its poetry makes this song very deep.

Drake adds a new dynamic on "If I Ain't Got You" and we love it! Also on the list of featured artists is Jared Cotter on "Stuck in the Middle." This song, along with "Ride It," "Stay," and "Cry" are originally from Jay's previous album "My Own Way," though Jared Cotter's added vocals are exclusive to this album. The title track "All or Nothing" showcases Jay Sean's vocals and the tune is another catchy one. To wrap up the album there are 2 variations of "Down." There is a "Candlelight Remix" which simply features Jay Sean accompanied by a piano. This truly showcases Jay Sean's voice! The second variation is the "Jason Nevins Remix." The remix takes on a techno, club vibe truly transforming the song.

Best Songs
War
Down Featuring Lil Wayne
If I Ain't Got You Featuring Drake
Do You

Worst Songs
Cry

Picking a least favorite song on this album was a difficult task for us. Even with three variations of "Down" we do not have a least favorite as they each embody different music styles. Therefore we chose "Cry" as our least favorite song. The track is depressing and a repeat for the Jay Sean fan base who knows his album "My Own Way," and it just falls flat on "All Or Nothing."

My man Ehsan knows whats up. He should write a review for the album. I am a bit confused on how Desi Hits! is loving Drake's new dynamic on "If I Aint Got You" cuz Drake ain't even on the album! LOL.. fuckin idiots! But as I said before, I AM disappointed that Drake's not on the album, esp cuz Jay himself and everyone else HYPED IT UP so much!! That's false advertisement man! When I bought the album from iTunes at midnight 11/23, they listed it as Featuring Drake! WTF was that about.. but they changed it now.. I think the worst song would be Down (Jason Nevins) remix.. 3 versions of the same song is a bit much. Jay shouldve left it at the candle light remix. Why isn't Tonight on this album!?!? Tonight would have lifted him to the likes of Ne-Yo - Closure (R&B/Pop/Dance category) with more radio plays. I don't think "Do You Remember" will last for long on radio plays cuz Lil Jon is f'in annoying and > 80% of listeners don't understand what Sean Paul is saying.. "Ride It" needs more air play.

i dont like this review lol you should review this review. Cry is a worst song? funny cause it has 242,000 myspace plays while love like this, all or nothing, if i aint got you, fire and other tracks have less. Cry is a deep song and fits the theme of the album perfectly. the song "cry" perfectly describes relationships. the album is called "all or nothing"...his experiences. another thing is get the info correct DRAKE IS NOT ON THE ALBUM!

Am I the only one disappointed about "If I Ain't Got You"...where the hell is Drake's rap verse?? If Drake had dropped a mean verse, this joint would've been made it on radio plays.. but overall its STILL a sick joint but I was just expecting Drake to drop a freakin rap..wtf! Fire is a hot song! Jay should've put "Tonight" on this album instead of Cry.. Tonight is a club banger and would've been a tremendous addon for R&B pop/dance
