Album Review: Parichay's Debut Album 'No Boundaries'

Parichay represents Canada as he travels the world in pursuit of sharing his music. Having collaborated with various artists in the past, Parichay is now ready to launch his solo career with his album "No Boundaries." The album encompasses traditional Desi sounds with a touch of urban qualities. Staying true to the style he wants to represent, Parichay can face any challenges because in life there are "No Boundaries."

What We Think:
Parichay is fairly new to the scene so we didn’t know what to expect from this fresh talent. But when we started listening to his album and paying attention to all that makes up his songs, we were impressed. Parichay has a very soulful and classical voice, and his music compliments his vocals. The song "Deewana Tera (She Makes Me Crazy)" is one of the more upbeat and urban tracks on the album as it features Roach Killa and Blitzkrieg. The party vibe on this tune got us excited and we wanted to see what else Parichay had in store for us.

Listening through the rest of "No Boundaries," we got a taste of all its diverse sounds. Sweeter melodies and emotional songs like "Kasam Se (I Swear)," "Kahe Barse," and "Tere Bin (Without You)" all exhibit Parichay’s strong vocals. The tracks are simple and do not contain any loud or distracting tunes.

Parichay has a bit of fun on the track "Mennu Keh Gayi (She Said To Me)" with its Punjabi lyrics and catchy beat. Though not overtly a Bhangra song, there is a mid-tempo dhol beat, thumbi, and trademark lyrics. Parichay proves that he can not only adopt urban sounds, but he can also embody Bhangra tunes.

Best Songs

Deewana Tera (She Makes Me Crazy)

Mennu Keh Gayi (She Said To Me)

Kahe Barse

Help Me To Shine

Worst song
Sadaayein (Callin' Out)

With a new beat and story in each song, it was quite difficult to decide which one we felt was the worst. "Sadaayein" is not terrible, it just does not compare to the rest of the album. The beat is slow for no reason, Parichay's vocals are not as prevalent in this track, and the music has a high-pitched sound that fades in and out. Once you recognize that noise, you get fixated on it and ignore the rest of the song; therefore, we think “Sadaayein” is the weakest track on the album.

What Parichay Has to Say
"Although I will always strive to achieve more and get to greater heights, I can truly say that I'm 100% happy with the outcome of this album and take immense pride in it as my debut record. I was lucky to be able to work with so many talented artists, musicians, writers, engineers and directors. The experience was unreal throughout... from writing, producing, singing, collaborating and performing each song to every single video shoot and live performance.

I wanted to bring a new sound to the world with a massive fusion of all these genres yet give each genre its due respect. Every song reflects a unique real life situation and has a different musical vibe... I am inspired by many great musicians from around the world and honestly believe that there are absolutely NO BOUNDARIES in music, hence the name! This album is a mirrored reflection of my passion for music and the fun I have makin' it. Much more music from Parichay to come; that's a promise! Hope the whole world vibes to my tunes. Much respect to God, my fam, my team, friends and all my supporters who helped bring imagination, ideas and a dream to life."

Final Verdict
Parichay is a hot new talent definitely worth keeping an eye out for. His classical style combined with just a few urban flavors works its magic on "No Boundaries." Within this 9-track album there are quite a few emotional songs. The album is heavily focused on relationships so there are also a good number of love songs. This may be an album better suited for a female audience, but guys could be interested in wooing their object of affection with some of Parichay's suave lines. "No Boundaries" is out in India and hits iTunes and Amazon worldwide on September 10.
