Zameer is an award winning artist from Canada. Zameer earned his degree in Electrical Engineering before he turned his focus to music. Zameer says that music motivates him and now he is connecting with his roots as he has released his Hindi/Urdu album Saath. Does he represent all that's good on the Desi music scene?
What We Think:
The album opens up with mellow guitar and flute sounds on the song "Teri Yaad." The tune features simplistic instrumentals, which brings all the focus to Zameer's vocals that relay plenty of emotion. On the same somber note, Zameer recreates "Voh Khagaz Ki Kashti" which is a well known ghazal tune performed by Jagjit Singh. This is an ambitious song to take on, but Zameer is able to adapt it and make it his own.
The next recreation comes to us in the form of "Jind Mahi." The song starts with a long guitar solo by Zameer which blows us away. Once the lyrics kick in, Zameer own the song with his voice and we love the remake!
On a whole new rock sound, we hear "Win or Defeat," which is sung in English. This track was produced in partnership with Canada's Paralympics Foundation and it has great charisma. "Janaat" is a sweet song reminiscent of Pakistani rock. "Rahon Ko" is a full bodied rock number that doesn't overpower Zameer's vocals, making it a great tune.

Final Verdict:
Zameer is making his debut with this Hindi/ Urdu album. It would have been easy for him to take a few techno beats, add a dhol and give us all the quintessential Urban Desi tune. Instead, Zameer stays true to who he is and gives us a great album with hints of rock, ghazal, and Bhangra. The musicality Zameer displays and the vulnerability in his voice make Saath a refreshing release!
