We know Kal Penn as the MCAT-averse, stoner Kumar from “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.” We know Hugh Laurie as the authority-flaunting, Vicodin-addicted diagnostician from “House.” It took them a while, but finally two of the funniest stoners on TV are joining forces on the Fox hit series “House.” We can only hope that Kal doesn’t relapse into Kumar-mode and start popping the painkillers with his pal Hugh. Kal will be playing a new medical trainee, hopefully stepping into the roles of Cameron, Chaise, or Foreman – all of whom were poised to head out at the end of season 3. As clichéd as it may be, portraying an Indian in the medical profession is a definite upgrade from the types of roles brown actors usually attract – i.e. cab drivers and terrorists. And we can all breathe a sigh of relief that none of Kal’s lines include “Thank you come again” or “JIHADDD! ATTACK.” Looks like Fox finally got something right! Should Kal be making a House call?
