Beyonce had a hit with 'Irreplaceable' but the former Destiny’s Child singer was shown to be ‘replaceable’ at yesterday's American Music Awards as she was beaten to two of the top female awards. Arriving in a head turning skin tight gold dress was not enough to knock down Rihanna’s 'Umbrella' who beat Beyonce for the favourite female soul/rhythm artist award with Fergie glamorously picking up the favourite rock and pop female artist award that Beyonce was also nominated for.

But it wasn’t all that bad for Mrs Jay-Z who was awarded the International Artist Award for excellence which has been handed to selected artists such as Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart and Aerosmith in the past. The band Sugarland provided a sweet country twist to Beyonce’s performance of 'Irreplaceable' surprising fans as she moved away from her normal urban beats at the glitzy awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
