The Bollywood music scene has adopted the likes of Urban Desi artists, but hasn't stopped there. Bhangra artists have been crossing over into the Bollywood scene and have been putting their Punjabi flavor into the music. All their tracks have been chart toppers, it's no wonder why composers want to add some Punjabi music to their soundtracks. Listen to the tracks below and let us know what you think of the Bollywood/Bhangra fusion.
'Teesri Aankh'- Chug De Punjabi: This track is sung by the Crown Prince of Bhangra, Jazzy B, and he is also featured in the music video. Jazzy B is an icon in the Bhangra circuit with his hits such as 'Dil Luteya' and more recently 'Rambo.' The video also featured the sultry Amisha Patel who looks like she's having a good time.
'Partner'-Soni De Nakre: From the quirky dance moves to the great beat, this track has been a huge hit. Labh Janjua, probably most famous for his vocals on the track "Mundian Tho Bach Ke," is no stranger to Bollywood. Along with his Punjabi touch in 'Partner', Labh Janjua's vocals can be heard on the soundtracks for 'Garam Masala', 'Naksha', and 'Hattrick' just to name a few. The movie 'Partner' was a success at the box office and an even bigger one on the charts.
'Jab We Met'- Mauja Hi Mauja: This film was another hit at the box office and also won awards and recognition in the industry. Mauja Hi Mauja is not Mika Singh's first time singing for a Bollywood track, but the Punjabi lyrics and his voice on this track have made it a hit that is still being played at parties and clubs.
'Hello'-Karle Baby Dance Wance:Daler Mehndi is a legend on the bhangra scene and is nowhere close to retirement. He too has lent his vocals to Bollywood time and time again. In the track Karle Baby Dance Wance we've got the Punjabi lyrics, dhol, and attitude. This was another track for dance parties across the nation.
'Aloo Chaat'- Aloo Chaat: RDB has not only sung this song, but they have also composed this track. This song has put RDB on the map as Bollywood composers now and they have just released their second Bollywood album, 'Kambakkth Ishq'. Their fusion of Bhangra into Bollywood is a success.
Looks like Bhangra/Bollywood fusions result in mega hit songs. These winning tracks are heard at weddings and clubs, and they are on everyone's iPods. Let us know what you think of the Bhangra/Bollywood fusion and tell us which one is your favorite track.
