There are a lot of British Indian actresses who are gaining attention in the limelight. Actresses like Parminder Nagra have found places in television after paying their dues in smaller roles. You may remember British actress Indira Varma from films like 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love', 'Bride and Prejudice', and the HBO/BBC drama series 'Rome'. Well the hot Indian/Swiss actress has just landed a lead role in a new ABC series called 'Inside the Box.'

'Inside the Box' is a show set in a Washington D.C. based news bureau and revolves around the life of news producer named Catherine (Indira Varma) and her colleagues, who pursue the story no matter what it takes. Catherine speaks quickly, is very smart, and somewhat uptight. She runs a tight ship in the office in hopes of getting promoted, but to her surprise is passed over for the position.  

The pilot episode will be directed by Mark Tinker and will be executive produced by Robbins, Rhimes and Betsy Beers. There is no guarantee that the plot, director, and actors will make this a hit show, but Indira Varma will no doubt give it her all. She seems to be a versatile actress that is getting some attention since being on the show 'Rome.' There's no doubt ABC will watch her closely to see if she was the right choice for 'Inside the Box.'
