We already told you about Punjabi singer Des-C's new live Bhangra band. With an average age of 20, the all-boy Bhangra band is the youngest ever in the genre. Each member was selected from auditions and the goal of the group is to "represent the sound of a new generation of Panjabi music lovers."
So how did this project come about? Band creator and Bhangra artist Des-C explains:
"By challenging yourselves, you excel. Everyone has a level of fear when it comes to change but without it, there’s no room to grow. This is the whole concept behind my album, change and growth. All the producers, band, engineers etc are young and see the industry with fresh eyes. The live Bhangra scene needs to grow and excel as it did when bands including Premi, Alaap, Golden Star, DCS etc. were in their prime. This is what we as a team are launching now in a bid to succeed."
Well we can’t wait to hear what this new live Bhangra band has to offer! Check out the boys below and tell us what you think; does this concept have a future on the Bhangra scene? Share your thoughts.
