October 22 and 23 will mark the 7th Annual Sikh Film Festival. During the two day festival, 12 films of different genres will be viewed. The Sikh Art and Film Foundation's mission is to "create awareness and pride in the diversity, culture and history of the Sikhs," so the Festival will "showcase exemplary masterpieces in film making, art and direction."
The events will take place in New York City and conclude with a gala. At this year's festival, Punjabi superstar Sukhbir will headline the event. DesiHits.com caught up with this world famous artist to talk about his performance and why he chose to support this event. Check out our exclusive interview here.

DH!: What have you been up to Sukhbir?
Sukhbir: I have been busy touring the world, performing and working on a few projects -both spiritual and pop. On the Spiritual side I have composed music for an album titled Bandanaa to raise funds for the first Gurudwara in the Middle East. It proved very successful and raised over $ 250,000 USD. I have followed that up with two kirtan videos that I hope will do equally well. On the pop album front I released "Tere Naal Nachna" which was very successful and reached the number one spot on radio Mirchi India for five weeks on a stretch. [I am] currently working on my next album releasing next year.
DH!: Why have you chosen to perform at the Sikh Film Festival?
Sukhbir: This is my first performance for the Sikh Film Festival, it is always an honor to give back to my community and I thought this was the ideal platform to do so. It will also be an opportunity to interact with fans in the U.S. and to get direct feedback for my music and performance.
DH!:: What are you most looking forward to at the events?
Sukhbir: It will be great to have a one-on-one experience with all my fans, which is a very powerful motivational tool, to see fans singing and dancing to my previous songs inspires me to work even harder to make more funky dance music!
DH!: What can fans expect to see you perform? Any new music?
Sukhbir: Fans can expect an energy packed performance which will involve them totally! Apart from my Punjabi tracks I will also sing my song "Dil Laga" that I sang for Hrithik Roshan from the film Dhoom 2.
