Desi Hits! was invited to hang out backstage with Delhi 2 Dublin at the Opening Night Party of the 8th Annual San Francisco Green Festival. The five-member Delhi 2 Dublin Canadian clan mashed-up the sounds of tabla, dhol, fiddle, and sitar, and laced them with Punjabi vocals. It was truly spectacular!

As we learnt first hand, Delhi 2 Dublin is something in between east meets west, electronic meets acoustic, mainstream meets underground, and Desi Hits! met the dance floor!

So what’s it like to play multiple instruments within a multi-instrument entourage? Andrew Kim on strings joked, "These days, I’m married to the Sitar, but the guitar is my mistress, you could say."

And as a treat, Delhi 2 Dublin offered the mixed, multi-generational sold-out crowd an impromptu dance lesson, and we’re sure many new bhangra devotees were born! When we asked about artists they’d most like to collaborate with, they replied, "It’d be a dream to work with Asian Dub Foundation, in fact to just open for them."
