DJ Rekha Represents Desi Community on Diverse Stages

Breaking Bhangra into the American mainstream audience with her acclaimed club night "Basement Bhangra" in NYC, DJ Rekha continues to represent the South Asian community as a successful Desi DJ.

This past Monday DJ Rekha played alongside multi-platinum hit-making solo artist Wyclef Jean on the popular U.S. program "Late Show with David Letterman."

This made us think about the many recognitions and accomplishments of DJ Rekha. These events also mark how Rekha is truly an iconic DJ!

From the New York Times to popular U.S. based music/culture/fashion magazine Fader, Rekha has been featured in countless reputable publications.

President Barack Obama invited distinguished members of the South Asian community to attend a Diwali celebration, and of course Rekha was on the guest list!

These are a few of the many honors that Rekha has recieved. The DJ who is also a lecturer and activist continues to inspire people to pursue their dreams and fight for change.
