It was just last week that Desi Hits! broke the news that Bill Bannerman, an Assistant Director with legendary American actor and director, Clint Eastwood is working on a film called ‘Unveiled.’ It’s a story of an Asian Muslim woman who dares to break free from the clutches of stereotypes. In the movie she has two husbands AND a lover…..it’s a twisted film noir/sexy thriller/dark drama. Alas, an actress has been selected to play the lead and it’s none other than ‘who gives a damn what people think’ actress and queen ‘item’ girl Mallika Sherawat! This is the first time that an Indian actress is cast in a lead role in a mainstream Hollywood project. Bill admitted seeing a couple of Mallika Sherawat movies and actually zeroed in on her after seeing ‘MURDER.’ The racy and ultra seductive actress expressed her surprise on having had to do a screen test in Los Angeles…doesn’t she know even Academy Award winning actors do screen tests for suitable roles?! This is a Hollywood film so things are run a bit differently than in Bollywood, as such there won’t be any song-n-dance in ‘Unveiled.’ It’s set to release in the first half of 2008. Will we see Mallika in steamy sex scenes, perhaps she’ll do what most Hollywood actresses are expected to do and take her clothes off…will she finally gain cross-over success and bury her ‘item’ girl reputation…..we at Desi Hits! are just dying to know how this will turn out!!!
