U.K. R&B sensation Jay Sean is about to make history! On November 23, his U.S. debut album "All Or Nothing" hits stores across the States and this calls for a celebration! And that is exactly what Jay did last night! The British pop phenomenon invited all of those who have been with him since the start of his career to reminisce about his humble beginnings and celebrate his success so far.
His closest peeps all showed up to get a glimpse of the tracks featured on the upcoming release and Desi Hits! was of course there to take part in the party! The DH! team hung out with Jay’s entourage and listened as his manager, Jeremy, talked about meeting a young, fresh and very ambitious talent who didn’t hesitate to fly alone to America to meet his crew and start recording an album on the spot!
Desi Hits! President and Chairwoman, Anjula Acharia-Bath, who has known and supported Jay from the start, was asked to speak at the event! Anjula made the crowd crack up as she shared her first memory meeting Jay Sean back in London when the artist was making a name for himself in the U.K. Jay was one of the few artists who happily met up with a fresh DH! team and performed for them by rapping and singing. Anjula noted that this openness and happy attitude says a lot about Jay’s character. But she also insisted on the fact that Jay Sean is part of something bigger, a movement: "I’m here for Jay Sean but there’s something way bigger going on. I have never had so many labels calling me up and ask 'where is my next Jay Sean?'"
The R&B singer was indeed praised all through the night as a pioneer and as someone who has opened the door for other South Asian artists out there who want to make it big like him.
After dancing to all of Jay’s tracks on "All Or Nothing," the crowd went wild as the man himself showed up to greet everyone! He spoke for a while about his career and how happy he is to be where he is today. And then it was time for the photo op! Fans and friends in the industry flocked to have their pic taken with Jay!
