Canadian actress and former Miss India-Canada title-holder, Lisa Ray, has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare and incurable cancer of the white blood cells.
Lisa Ray started her Bollywood career in Vikram Bhatt's 2001 movie "Kasoor," co-starring Aftab Shivdasani. She went on to play roles in movies like "Bollywood/Hollywood" and "Water."
Lisa said she received the bad news with calm.
"You just know when something is not kosher with your body. So when I sat there with Bobcat — my life partner and reservoir of Yellow — and got the news, I didn’t react and I didn’t cry. I’m an actress, believe me, I can be dramatic. Not just then though."
The actress of Indian and Polish descent has already started treatment and refuses to give up hope.
"I believe it can be cured. That’s the Dirty Realist in me."
We wish Lisa Ray full recovery.
