Well it is definitely safe to say that Michelle Obama is a first lady with class! The presidential couple held their first official state dinner last night in honor of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and to topple things off with style, Michelle donned a gorgeous gown designed by Naeem Khan! It was truly a night in Desi colors!
Anyone who’s anyone in the political world of Washington and the entertainment industry in Hollywood was invited to the 'black tie' event; actor turned Associate Director of White House Office of Public Engagement Kal Penn, CNN's Sanjay Gupta, the managing editor of the Washington Post Raju Narisetti, Hollywood director M. Night Shyamalan, president of the Asia Society Vishakha N. Desai, and "Slumdog Millionaire" star Freida Pinto.
The first lady donned a silver-sequined, cream-colored gown with beads forming an abstract floral pattern, custom-made by Desi designer Naeem Khan. For accessories, Michelle went for a cream-colored wrap, bangle bracelets and long earrings. And as usual, she pulled of the stunning look with style! The first lady was indeed a huge hit in her Naeem Khan gown.
When asked about his inspiration for the dress, Naeem Khan told CNN talk show host Larry King that he wanted something "Indian, chic, simple but very glamorous." And Khan is no stranger to dressing American stars. He has previously worked with Hollywood glitteratis like Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, and Katherine Heigl.
Michelle Obama’s gorgeous gown took three weeks to make in India with 40 working on it so tell us what you think; a hit or a miss? Drop us a line.
