Movie Review: Dabangg

The Story:

Dabangg is directed by Abhinav Kashyap and produced by Arbaaz Khan. It is the first film of newly launched Arbaaz Khan Productions. The lead actors in the film include Arbaaz's elder brother, Salman Khan. For his role as a police officer, Salman Khan sports a moustache for the second time in his career.

Salman plays police officer Chulbul Pandey, who is described as "fearless, corrupt, lovable and a bad-ass Robin Hood." The action movie is set in Uttar Pradesh and it depicts the flaws of the system in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Aside from Salman Khan, Dabangg stars Arbaaz Khan, newcomer Sonakshi Sinha, Dimple Kapadia, Om Puri and Anupam Kher.

What Worked:

The story, the cast, the chemistry, the music; Dabangg as a film that works! Salman Khan has been a hero for quite some time in Bollywood but his role as Chulbul is unique and he carries it off with a lot of charm. Salman, as well as the rest of the cast, pull off their stunts with grace, adding to the awe factor of this film. The veteran actors all complete the film and each member of the cast is vital.

What Didn't:

The good versus evil, police drama is cliché so we can't say too much about the creativity of this film.

The Soundtrack:

The music for Dabangg has proven to be stellar as the songs are currently topping the charts. The sweet "Mast Do Nain" became a quick favorite.

Slated or Rated:

Whether you have expectations for Dabangg or not, you will leave the cinema pleased with the movie. Salman Khan fans will continue to love their favorite hero; perhaps Salman's fan base will only grow after this release?
