Music Review: Patiala House

Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma are the lead pair in the film Patiala House that also stars British Urban Desi rapper Hard Kaur in her acting debut. With so many stars, do Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy manage to create a soundtrack with the right amount of oomph? Find out what our critic thinks here.

What We Think:

The soundtrack opens with the first promotional song "Laundga Lashkara" which has become a hit! The catchy song has a subtle taste of Punjab and it will get anyone dancing! A remix adds to the song's tempo. "Kyun Main Jaagoon" is a quintessential mellow Bollywood tune filled with piano melodies. We prefer the smooth original edition of this track to its remix.

Adding more Punjabi flavor and party vibes, "Rola Pe Gaya" the classic Punjabi wedding song "Mehndi Ni Mehndi." The range of vocalists on this song as well as its upbeat tempo will please listeners. This track also gets a remix which adds a club vibe.

"Aadat Hai Voh" boasts a subtle rock flavor that adds to the depth of the soundtrack. A finger snapping casual song, "Baby When you Talk to Me" features new vocalists and embodies the new Bollywood sound people are falling in love with.

Best Songs:

Laungda Lashkara
Rola Pe Gaya
Kyun Main Jaagoon

Final Verdict:

Patiala House packs in many stars and personalities and the music reflects this! From rock tunes to Punjabi vibes, this soundtrack encapsulates a wide variety of sounds. The music truly offers something for each listener and will add many layers to the film's overall look. We expect these songs to capture audiences across the globe.
