After doing the promotional rounds for his latest film, 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,' Shahrukh Khan is off to Los Angeles, California to film for Karan Johar's 'My Name is Khan.' The film will reunite the super hit jodi of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol after seven years, but seems like not everyone will be taking off at the same time. Some Muslim members of the crew and cast have been denied U.S. visas, even though they told authorities they were going for a film shoot. Shahrukh Khan's personal staff and actor Aamir Bashir are among those denied entry.
It seems after the hideous attacks in Mumbai which began on November 26th and lasted for three days, has made the U.S. consulate extremely cautious when issuing visas. All they can do is re-submit applications and hope for a better outcome. Hopefully things go through and they are able to travel with the rest of the unit. With three of the biggest names in Bollywood coming together after an absence of seven years, we know this film is definitely going to be huge!
Shahrukh Khan himself has joked in the past on how the last name Khan has given him all kinds of problems when entering the U.S., including getting interrogated at airports. Ironically the film is based on a real life couple who live in Los Angeles and the hardships they face in a post 9/11 world. Shahrukh Khan reportedly plays a man with a mild case of autism and will display a new short crew cut in the film. The real question here is, is this denial of their visas justified by the U.S. consulate? After all they are just coming to shoot a film. But then again are they just taking precaution after the Mumbai attacks? Leave us a comment with your thoughts!
