Dev Benegal’s new movie "Road, Movie" has already hit theaters but if you have not seen it yet, you can now catch the song "Tel Mallish," originally from the classic Bollywood movie "Pyaasa."
The drama tells the story of Vishnu, a restless young man who escapes his father's hair oil business and goes on a journey across the Indian landscape in a truck that he turns into a traveling cinema.
During the journey through the deserts of India, Vishnu meets all kinds of people that end up joining his 'road movie.' A gypsy woman comes along, as does a young boy who has also run away from his parents and an old entertainer.
The movie stars "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" actor Abhay Deol, "Do Knot Disturb" actor Satish Kaushik, "Brick Lane" actress Tannishtha Chatterjee and Mohammed Faizal as the young boy.
When the cast and crew of "Road, Movie" came to New York City to promote the film, DesiHits! met up with them and asked actress Tannishta Chatterjee about her experience shooting the movie in Rajahstan:
"My fondest memory of making this movie was coming from the London weather and I was dying for the sun, and I really got it! My fondest memory was also the music session. There was a teacher that came to teach me, it was an amazing session. The weather was nice and filming was fun," she told us.
The film is part of the official selection at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Doha Tribeca Film Festival and the 2010 Berlinale Film Festival. Sounds like a ringing endorsement to us!
"Road, Movie" already hit theaters on March 5, so if you haven’t seen it yet check out the number "Tel Maalish" and tell us if you’re planning on seeing the drama soon!
