Russell Peters to Host Juno Awards

If you like Russell Peters, you'll love this. The Desi funny man has been asked to host the Juno Awards in Vancouver on March 29th. This would be the second time that Peters will be hosting the show, he hosted last year as well. The Juno Awards is equivalent to the American Grammys.

Why would comedian Russell Peters be a good fit for the Juno's? Simple, he's huge in Canada. For the past 10 years he has been developing his act in Canada. Born in Brampton, Ontario, he has been using his Desi roots as a major selling point. People can't get enough of his one liner "Somebody gonna get hurt real bad."

Consider this, he sold out the Air Canada Center in two days, Dane Cook did the same thing in Boston. When he came to New York, he headlined the Apollo. The only Desi to pull that off. And when in Dubai, tickets for his show sold out at a rate of one ticket every two seconds. On Youtube, Russell has been racking in the hits. Over 20 million people have videos of him online. Starting to understand why the Desi golden boy was chosen to host the Juno awards? Peter's himself isn't a major fan of the Juno's saying "[It's] a show I never would have watched ... until now."

But you really can't take Russell seriously. He grew up on bands such as Trooper and Rush and this year his rooting for indie superstar Feist.  Peter's success is about to leak over from the stand-up stage to the world of acting. Last year he made a deal with Fox to develop a sitcom about his family's life in Ontario 10 years ago. It sounds like Russell Peters is about to have a phenomenal year with the Juno's starting it off. How do you feel about the Canadian Comedian? Plan on checking out the Juno's or what about his future show?  DesiHits wants to know what you think, leave us a comment.
