S-Endz's Fashion Transformations

Recently, we have noticed quite a few makeovers in the music industry. From Miss Pooja's village kudi to Jay Sean's sleek and tailored hair, it seems like the makeovers come with every new album. Well, S-Endz from the band Swami is no exception. Swami has celebrated a decade on the music scene. With their ever evolving, unique sound and fresh vibes, fans only want more. In the past six years, Swami has given us six releases and six new looks! Check out their different styles below.

Let's step back in time and rediscover "DesiRock" from 2004. "I was 16, and went off to live with my cousin in the U.S. for a few months. I came back looking every inch the American hip-hopper, with the braids, bandanas, chains and sports jerseys," S-Endz tells DesiHits! as he talks about his look. As for what was going on with Swami, "Diamond called me up and told me he wanted to reform the band Swami with me. We laced 10 tracks of full on hip-hop/Desi crossover music, and that album. "DesiRock" became the biggest Desi album of the year." A new outlook on life and a new career; the new look for S-Endz seems quite fitting!

2005 saw the release of "So Who Am I." With a title like that, a style revamp makes sense but S-Endz gave DesiHits! the scoop as he tells us, "The success of the album meant we could hit the road for a full tour with our new live band. We did some shows supporting the Beastie Boys in Europe and found that our songs became a lot heavier when played live. We re-recorded the album with live instruments for an international release on Sony BMG, and by the end of the tour had become moody rockers - lots of leather, lots of black clothing, and long hair all round!" This style over was definitely embraced by the band. Check out the expression in their faces!

"New Beginning" marks the year 2006 and the title once again makes us think of new looks! "In 2006, Sups joined the band and we did a tour playing the new songs which were an alternative rock/Bhangra hybrid," S-Endz reminisces. "I evolved my style to suit - bleached blonde hair, baggy nu-metal jeans and a mean stare!" That blonde is serious, we wonder how long it took for S-Endz to get back his natural hair color? "By mid-2006, we mutually decided to scrap the album we had been working on, as we were not happy with the results. We took a few months off to regroup our thoughts and ideas." Maybe it was the bleach fumes that threw this album off; got to hand it to S-Endz for owning this look though!

"We spent the first half of 2007 writing and recording a new album - "Equalize." I think Diamond went a bit crazy here trying to fit as many styles as he could into one album - with the R&B funk of "Hey Hey," the electro house of "Electro Jugni" and the dirty Desi D&B of "Ching" to name a few." The album "Equalize" featured many of Swami's most loved hits! "After the album was out we hit the road again - I brought back the braids (hanging this time), and that look was used to represent me on the album cover." Going back to a safe look with braids, the blonde must have been tough to come back from!

In 2008 Swami shook things up! "Liana joined the band in early 2008 and by this time, it was clear that the monster track on the album was "Electro Jugni." We recorded two new versions with myself, Liana and Sups on vocals. One version in Punjabi, Hindi and English, and one fully English version called "She's Mine." We shot a CGI video set in space for the song." The video got fans excited and got plenty of people paying attention to this band. As for the style, S-Endz tells DH!, "We all went into full cyber-electro mode, tight black clothing, belts, chains, and in my case, black/white wristbands, poker-straight hair and spiked studs all over the place." We are digging this slick, matrix, sci-fi look!

"2009 took us by surprise. We had intended to simply spend the year writing the new album, but our record company EMI asked us to consider putting together a compilation album of our hits," S-Endz explains, ""53431" was born and we decided to write two final songs with Punjabi vocals, as our next album will be fully in English. Those two songs, "Sugarless" and "Tonight" blew up much more than we expected, with "Sugarless" being voted one of the top songs of the year across the board. I also released my first solo single in 2009 - "Outer Space" featuring Kazz Kumar and Rukas. My look for 2009 was essentially a continuation of 2008, but with more emphasis on black/gray color dynamics, longer shirts, and more makeup." S-Endz said it himself, embracing a darker look and a touch of makeup set his year apart from the rest.

This brings us to today; we are all on edge waiting for Swami's next release."We're close to finishing the brand new Swami album which will be released later this year....as will my solo debut album, "Emanate," S-Endz told us." I have a brand new look for this year with some pretty drastic changes.....but you're gonna have to wait for the new album to see!"

So as we await Swami's next album, we also have to wait and see what S-Endz has in store for us in regards to his look. Has he cut his hair? Perhaps a new color? Only time will tell. Let us know what your favorite look for S-Endz has been so far and what you would like to see him rock next.
