Desi Hits! was invited to hang backstage with Junoon guitarist Salman Ahmad and world music artist Vishwa Mohan while on their humanitarian "Music Without Borders" tour in San Francisco.
Fresh off a performance for the United Nations General Assembly, Salman Ahmad shared with Desi Hits! a few excerpts from his upcoming book "Rock & Roll Jihad." When we asked him about his passion for fashion, the Junoon guitarist had this to say, "Yes, I’ll admit I have a weakness for pashtoon sandals, multi-colored kurtas and hip head gear!"
After receiving a Grammy for his world music album "A Meeting By The River" in 1994, Vishwa Mohan had an instrument named after him, no small feat! "I somehow managed to Indian-ize the Hawaiian Guitar, which my fans and colleagues the world over began to affectionately refer to as the 'Mohan Veena,'" the artist explained.
We look forward to reconnecting with our favorite global ambassadors on their next stateside tour!
