'Bollywood Beats,' the new film by Mehul Shah will be featuring music from the Urban Desi group The Bilz & Kashif. The track that will appear on the film, 'Turn the Music Up,' was released mid 2008 and is getting a rebirth through 'Bollywood Beats.' The film stars Sachin Bhatt as Raj, an ambitious hip hop dancer much to the chagrin of his family and girlfriend. After getting encouragement from Jyoti, played by Lilette Dubey from 'Monsoon Wedding,' he decides to open up a dance school.
The indie film seems like a decent family comedy and director Mehul Shah has likened it to 'Bend it like Beckham.' There isn't a superstar Bolllywood list of actors but it looks like it offers a good couple of laughs and centers around only a few main characters. The film is set to premiere early April 2009.
'Turn the Music up' seems to compliment the movie 'Bollywood Beats.' The track offers a catchy chorus and has techno and pop elements. A film about a dance school should have some dance music and 'Turn up the Music' qualifies.
Currently The Bilz & Kashif latest track has taken a softer tone, 'One Voice' was written to help raise awareness and support war affected children around the world. The Bilz & Kashif are donating all proceeds from the track (Available on iTunes) to War Child Canada.
