In June 2009, Gym Class Heroes’ lead singer Travis McCoy went to India to visit HIV prevention projects funded by The Staying Alive Foundation. His single "One at a Time" was inspired by what he saw on his trip.
The track is set to release on December 1 but DesiHits.com was invited to a preview party last night in New York City where Travis spoke about his experience and why he wrote the song.
"This has been an emotional roller coaster for me," Travis said, adding "People shy away from talking about HIV."
Travis, who spoke to DesiHits.com back in June right after the trip to India, says he is not ready to forget this new and mind-opening experience.
"The things that I got to see on this trip will stay with me forever; all the people I got to meet stole a chink from my heart."
"One at a time" was inspired by the emotions and the people he met during this eventful time.
"They gave me a challenge to write a song about what I saw," said Travis about the track that is set to release on iTunes on December 1.
