Anoop: Let's get it going! Shout out to all my SE Asian fans following!

Desi Hits!: So how's life been after American Idol?

Anoop: It's been busy writing and recording music! My single, "My Name," comes out on March 23rd, and the EP, "All is Fair" in May!

Desi Hits!: We heard you debuted your single "My Name" a few days ago at NYC's Fashion week, tell us about that?

Anoop: Incredible! @malanbreton takes inspiration from Indian clothes, and my single takes some inspiration from Bollywood. Great match!

Desi Hits!: From Lady Gaga to 50 cent, DH! has brought South Asian culture to the west, what are your thoughts on east meets west?

Anoop: the E-W fusion seems so natural to me- it pretty much describes my life! With music especially, though. The Beatles exposed...  music that I find exciting. So proud that the 2 types of music that shaped me are working together! I hope to be a part of it the West to Indian music on Across the Universe, and now there's a new generation of collaboration between Bollywood and W. pop...

Desi Hits!: So are were going to be hearing some desi beats on your upcoming album?

Anoop: you'll definitely hear that influence. I listened to Lata and Mukesh in the car on the way to school, at the same time I was... listening to BoyzIIMen, Taal at the same time as I was into Brandy. It affects a lot of things I write. But it's not going to... be forced on any song where it doesn't belong. I'm just trying to make the best music possible by using all of my backgrounds!

Desi Hits!: Hate to ask. But how did feel about being compared to the other desi idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar?

Anoop: Found it funny. Anyone that compares us is...aurally challenged haha. Stereotypes are a part of life, my goal is to transcend them

Desi Hits!: Great answer! Speaking of Idol tell us about the whole experience? What did you learn?

Anoop: It taught me about the music industry and showed me a level of success I'm very hungry achieve again. It made me hungry & humble

Desi Hits!: What's your best memory from the show? What you do reality tv again?

Anoop: Meeting Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder in the same week is a highlight of my LIFE, so that has to be the best... I would never do a competition show again, but I think people would be interested in the post-Idol journey on a show...We'll see!

Desi Hits!: That would be interesting. Will we be seeing more TV appearances from you. Anything we should look out for?

Anoop: For now, the only TV appearances we're planning are to promote the single. I'll announce all of them here on Twitter... and Facebook. When www.anoopdesai.com is fully up in a few weeks, that'll be updated every day! Also behind the scenes vids, etc!
