When Dabangg stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha came to Hyderabad to promote their upcoming movie, fans got a little too excited and the actor had to turn to his bodyguards to help him fight his way out of the stampede!

The whole thing started when Sallu and Sonakshi hit up a local mall to get the word out about their new movie Dabangg. But the crowd was so happy to see them that they tried to get closer and closer to the two actors! Sallu and his lead actress got caught up in the stampede and their bodyguards had to step in to get them out of there!

Salman, who was immediately taken away from the scene without being able to promote the flick, took to Twitter to share his disappointment with fans and followers: "Toooo much dhakam dhukhi at the mall, girls n kids were also being pushed around by over excited fans n body guards."

Five people were injured in the fight and Sallu, who was looking forward to meet the people of Hyderabad where his previous films Wanted and Veer had fared well at the box-office, later tweeted: "All the way to hyd n did nt get to do anything v sad, any way challo next time mulakaat hogi, oh by the way kick ass airport n road to city."

In Dabangg Salman plays police officer Chulbul Pandey, who is described as "fearless, corrupt, lovable and a bad-ass Robin Hood." But Salman didn't bring his badass self to Hyderabad as he was carefully escorted from the scene by his bodyguards!

The action movie is set in Uttar Pradesh and it depicts the flaws of the system in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Aside from Salman Khan, Dabangg also stars Arbaaz Khan, newcomer Sonakshi Sinha, Dimple Kapadia, Om Puri and Anupam Kher.
